Education in general and higher education in particular plays a key role in human resources capital, which has become more importance than physical capital, whereas education provides individuals with capacities, knowledge, skills, values ​​and attitudes that enable them to face the requirements, and improve their productivity level, and undoubtedly that higher education also is the password to the success of any country economically, socially and scientifically, and that the interest in it is considered as one of the important ways to improve the quality of society, where international experience indicate a positive correlation between attention to higher education and states prosperity in various fields.

In consistent with the interest of the Sultanate in education as general, and higher education in particular, the National Center for Statistics and Information, during the 2018 issued the seventh edition of the Bulletin of Higher Education in the Sultanate, in order to monitor the factual status of higher education development that shall allow directing policies and efforts based on knowledge supported by the facts and evidences.
