The Sultanate has embarked on the development of programs for the care of the elderly, which is in line with the international trends that focus on providing the care for the elderly in the midst of its social and family environment and in a way that preserves its dignity and ensures a decent life. The Ministerial Decision No. (51/2015) was issued to establish a department concerned with the affairs of the elderly to study their situation and needs and design programs and services according to actual requirements. This edition sheds light on the age group (60 years and above) for Omanis (2013-2017) in terms of their geographical distribution, educational, health, practical and social status in the Sultanate. This is the fourth edition of the 2018 Society Statistics Series.
