The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) recently issued its annual report of 2018.
The report includes all the functions, events, efforts, products and projects carried out by the Center during the year of 2018.
The report also highlights the achievements of the Center, the international and regional awards received from the promising projects implemented by NCSI, as well as its plans and programs that embody its slogan "From statement toward the service".
The report shows the continuous success of NCSI since its inception in 2012. The centre has been honored with three international awards, which are proof of international recognition at the advanced level achieved by the Sultanate of Oman and represented by NCSI in the geographic information sector.
The three awards received by NCSI includes the award of excellence and global spatial leadership in favor of the National Geographic Information structure as one of the best factor to promote economical growth; the excellence award in the field of GIS applications for the joint software structure project for improving smart phone applications; and the award of excellence for its achievements in the field of spatial data in applications for its role in the national structure of geographic information gateway technologies.
The report also highlights the agreements and memorandums of understanding achieved during the year of 2018, with the signing of the unified government licensing agreement for GIS programs with the US Global Environmental Systems Research Company as one of the most important projects achieved during the year, as well as the memorandums of understanding that strengthen the partnership of the NCSI with various sectors in the Sultanate.
The annual report shows the specialized surveys carried out by the NCSI, the statistical surveys that provide data to serve planning purposes in Oman, and other promising projects that NCSI continues to implement, such as the general electronic census project for population, housing and enterprises 2020, the unified addressing project and the national office for competitiveness.
