The Sultanate of Oman's production of refineries and petrochemicals recorded a decrease of 0.4% till the end of May 2024 compared to the corresponding period in 2023, according to preliminary statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The production of regular gasoline (M-91) fell by 5.2% by the end of May 2024, and its sales fell by 2.8%.

Regarding petrochemicals, the statistics show that Benzene production increased by 8.7%, recording 68,500 metric tonnes, while paraxylene production reached 217,200 metric tonnes, rising by 2.6%. Polypropylene production decreased by 9.7%, recording 100,500 metric tonnes, but its sales increased by 22.6%. Registered 15 thousand metric tonnes.

The statistics indicate that the production of regular gasoline (M-91) reached 6,677,300 barrels by the end of May 2024, with sales amounting to 5,678,100 barrels.

The production of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 12%, reaching 5,400,500 barrels, and its sales increased to 5,309,700 barrels.

The production of diesel fuel (gas oil) fell by 8.8%, reaching 13,281,300 barrels, with sales amounting to 5,683,300 barrels. Furthermore, the production of jet fuel increased by 13.5%, totaling 4,757,900 barrels, with sales of 1,666,500 barrels. The production of liquefied petroleum gas also rose by 10.3%, reaching 3,786,100 barrels.

Regarding petrochemicals, the production of benzene increased by 8.7%, reaching 68,500 metric tonnes, while the production of paraxylene reached 217,200 metric tonnes, representing 2.6%. The production of polypropylene dropped by 9.7%, amounting to 100,500 metric tonnes.

Oman's exports of gasoline (M-91) rose by 8.6% to reach 1,311,500 barrels, and the exports of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 153%.

The exports of diesel fuel (gas oil) reached 7,641,200 barrels, and the exports of jet fuel reached 2,898,000 barrels. Additionally, the exports of liquefied petroleum gas reached 237,000 barrels.

The exports of paraxylene amounted to 219,600 metric tonnes, and the exports of benzene and polypropylene reached 68,600 metric tonnes and 76,000 metric tonnes, respectively.
