Oman's gross electricity production went up 4.2% to 29,614.4 GW/H in the first 10 months of the current year, compared with figures for the same period last year, while water production surged 12.6% to over 314 million cu.m, according to the latest data released by the (NCSI).
Giving governorate wise figures, the NCSI report says Muscat witnessed a 29.2% fall in gross electricity output at 3,429.5 GW/H, while Dhofar and Musandam logged a rise in production at 1.7% each taking output to 2,856.4 and 323.6 GW/H respectively.
Ad Dhakliyah produced 0.5% less electricity at 1,090.7 GW/H, in contrast with increased production in Al Batinah and Ad Dhahirah, Sharqiya and al Wusta governorates. Al Batinah (north and south) and Ad Dhahirah together produced 15,767.1 GW/H of gross electricity, marking a rise of 8.7% over last year figures for the 10-month period. Electricity produced at Sharqiya (north and south) and al Wusta showed an increase of 27% and 23% respectively, with output reaching 5,835.1 and 312.1 GW/H, the NCSI bulletin says.
Net electricity production in the Sultanate increased by 4.0% during the period to touch 29,212.3 GW/H.
Meanwhile, Muscat generated 10.4% more water by the end of October at 142.47 million cu.m as against year-ago figures, while Dhofar's water production grew by 28.3% to reach 39.91 million cu.m. All the other governorates generated a combined water output of 131.66 million cu. m during the January-October period, logging a 10.9% increase over prior year output.
