NCSI launched Oman National Spatial Data Infrastructure (ONSDI) a new Portal during the second ONSDI Steering Committee meeting. The new ONSDI Portal provides Information about the ONSDI initiatives and hosts multiple services e.g. GeoSpatial Data Sharing, National Open Geospatial Data, Ready to use Maps etc. for its stakeholders, academia, Businesses and Public.
The Steering Committee discussed the establishment of a Unified GeoSmart Permits System, which aims to study the establishment of an online one stop solution for issuing permits to companies and individuals. The system is proposed to be developed in coordination between government agencies involved in the issuance of Permits. The proposed GeoSmart Permits system will allow the applicant to apply online for a new permit by completing the application form and seeking details about the project. Based on the applicant's input, the system determines all the approval requirements and determines the course of the transaction, which includes the government entities that will participate in the process. The Steering Committee also discussed a report on the progress of work in the National Spatial Data Infrastructure and adopted the minutes of its first meeting of 2017.
Geographic spatial information is a key component of the decision-making process and is used worldwide to make important decisions
