2.3% increase in revenue of three-five star hotels in the Sultanate until the end of August this year compared to the August 2016. The total number of guests until the end of August this year was 994 thousand and 243, according to the data released by the (NCSI).
In August this year there were 129 thousand and 504 guests in three-five star hotels compared to 106 thousand and 115 guests in July this year. The total occupancy rate grew 0.6% to 54.6% at the end of August 2017 compared to 54.3% at the end of August last year. The total revenue from three-five star hotels reached to RO121 million and 309 thousand at the end of August this year compared to RO 118 million and 564 thousand at the end of August 2016, according to the data. There was a 33.1% growth in the number of guests from European countries to 366 thousand and 733 at the end of August this year compared 275 thousand and 633 at the end of August last year. Guests from GCC countries declined to 144 thousand and 722 this year compared to 151 thousand and 42 at the end of August last year, a decline of 4.2%.
The total number of guests from African countries witnessed a 25.5% growth to 6 thousand and 519 at the end of August 2017 compared to 5 thousand and 195 at the end of August last year.Guest from other Arab countries witnessed a 6.3% decline to 43 thousand and 200 at the end of August compared to 46 thousand and 119 at the end of August last year. Interestingly, there was an 18.4% decline in the number of Omani guests at three-five star hotels at the end of August this year to 275 thousand and 852 compared to 338 thousand and 41 until the end of August 2016. Guests from the American countries too registered a 3.5% decline from 34 thousand and 273 at the end of August last year to 33 thousand and 57 at the end of August this year. The number of Asian guests at three-five star hotels during the period under review declined 7.8% to 104 thousand and 173 from 112 thousand and 963. There was a 1.4% growth in the number of guests from Oceanian countries until the end of August this year to 8 thousand and 93 compared to 7 thousand and 978 until the end of August 2016. The number of guests whose nationality was not stated declined 34.9% from 18 thousand and 270 at the end of August last year to 11 thousand and 894 at the end of August 2017, according to NCSI data.
