The Unified Addressing Project Committee held its first meeting for the year 2019 at the premises of the National Centre for Statistic and Information (NCSI) in Ghala on Tuesday April 9, 2019.
The meeting, which was headed by HE Dr. Khalifa bin Abdullah Al Barwani, CEO of NCSI, and the committee's president, discussed a number of subjects that were listed in the meeting agenda, approved the minutes of the third meeting in 2018, and followed up on the decisions and execution processes as well.
The committee also highlighted the construction of the addressing system in the concerned municipalities of the country and reviewed procedures for building it.
The Unified Addressing Project aims to number buildings and facilities, standardize street names, and provide an accurate spatial data, in order to keep in pace with the rapid growth of the country through simplification of the addresses in a way which helps movement and identification of places much easier for the citizens, residents and visitors of the Sultanate in all parts of the country.
This project is considered part of one of the strategic objectives that aim to develop a secure and integrated infrastructure, which enables access and exchange of data to achieve integration and coordination between different organizations.
The addressing system can also be an advanced step to create an improved investment environment to make the geographical navigation information available and accessible.
