The Ministry of Housing allotted a total of 6,836 residential properties across the country till the end of March 2020, compared to 7,805 plots in the same period of 2019, which is a decrease of 12.4%, according to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The governorate of Ash-Sharqiyah North was allotted 1,463 residential lands until the end of March 2020, which is the highest among governorates. This was followed by Ad-Dakhliyah with 1,132 properties, Muscat with 1,116, Dhofar with 947 plots and Adh-Dhahirah with 675 plots allotted until the end of March 2020.
There was a drop in the residential plots allotted to the governorates of Musandam, Al-Buraymi, Ad-Dakhliyah, Al-Batinah South and Ash-Sharqiyah South by 74.7%, 86.1%, 44.9%, 40.3%, and 61.5%, respectively. Al-Wusta was allotted 45 plots, which is the lowest among governorates.
Meanwhile, the governorates of Muscat, Dhofar, Al-Batinah North and Ash-Sharqiyah North and Adh-Dhahirah witnessed a phenomenal increase in the number of lands allotted until the end of March 2020 compared to the same period of 2019.
The Ministry of Housing had allotted a total of 28,099 residential plots in 2019.
