Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the Sultanate of Oman's total production of electricity till the end of May 2024 increased by 1.4%, reaching 15,769.6 GWh, compared to 15,553 GWh in the same period of 2023.
Statistics showed that the governorates of Al Batinah North and South and Adh Dhahirah recorded total electricity production reaching 9,437.4 GWh, and the governorates of Ash Sharqiya North and South recorded electricity production reaching 3,679.9 GWh till the end of May 2024.
The electricity production in the Governorate of Ad Dakhliyah fell by 53%, whereas it rose by 46.9% in the Governorate of Muscat, reaching 113.9 GWh. In the Governorate of Dhofar, electricity production rose by 16.9% reaching 2,304.2 GWh. Meanwhile, the total electricity production in the Governorate of Al Wusta decreased by 33.3%, reaching 60.9 GWh.
Statistics also showed that the Sultanate of Oman's net electricity production until the end of June 2024 fell by 0.9% to reach 14,926.9 GWh. The net production in the Governorate of Al Batinah North and South and Adh Dhahirah fell by 6.5%, reaching 8,788.3 GWh, and those of Al Dakhliyah also fell by 53% to reach 17.6 thousand GWh.
In the governorates of Al Sharqiyah North and South, the electricity production increased by 5.1%, reaching 3,595.5 GWh, and those in the Governorate of Muscat by 46.9%, reaching 113 GWh. In the Governorate of Dhofar, it increased by 16.5%, reaching 2,201 GWh till the end of May 2024.
The statistics showed that the net electricity production in the Governorate of Al Wusta decreased by 33.4%, recording 59.9 GWh.
In terms of water production, the statistics showed that the total quantity of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman fell by 2.3%, reaching 205,753.3 thousand cubic meters by the end of May 2024.
