Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the Sultanate of Oman's total production of electricity till the end of August 2024 decreased by 3.9%, reaching 29,127.6 thousand GWh, compared to 30,298.3 thousand GWh in the same period of 2023.
Statistics showed that the governorates of Al Batinah North and South and Adh Dhahirah recorded total electricity production reaching 16,811.7 thousand GWh with decreased by 11.9%, and the governorates of Ash Sharqiyah North and South recorded electricity production reaching 7,229.9 thousand GWh increased by 7.3% till the end of August 2024.
The electricity production in the Governorate of Ad Dakhliyah decreased by 64.3%, whereas it increased by 6.7% in the Governorate of Muscat, reaching 368.1 thousand GWh. In the Governorate of Dhofar, electricity production increased by 15.5% reaching 3,943.2 thousand GWh. Meanwhile, the total electricity production in the Governorate of Al Wusta decreased by 25.8%, reaching 113.5 thousand GWh.
Statistics also showed that the Sultanate of Oman's net electricity production until the end of August 2024 decreased by 4.9% to reach 27,946.8 thousand GWh. The net production in the Governorate of Al Batinah North and South and Adh Dhahirah decreased by 13.6%, reaching 15,976.5 thousand GWh, and those of Ad Dakhliyah also decreased by 64.3% to reach 55.4 thousand GWh.
In the governorates of Ash Sharqiyah North and South, the electricity production increased by 7.3%, reaching 7,070.4 thousand GWh, and those in the Governorate of Muscat by 6.7%, reaching 365.2 thousand GWh. In the Governorate of Dhofar, it increased by 15%, reaching 3,769.2 thousand GWh till the end of August 2024.
The statistics showed that the net electricity production in the Governorate of Al Wusta decreased by 25.8%, recording 112 thousand GWh.
In terms of water production, the statistics showed that the total quantity of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman decreased by 0.1%, reaching 346,569.5 thousand cubic meters by the end of August 2024.
