The total estimated cultivated areas in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 6.2%, at the end of 2023, reaching to 293,070 thousand acres, compared to 275,909 thousand acres at the end of 2022, while the total agricultural production reached 3,684.695 million metric tons, up from 3,490. 973 metric tons at the end of 2023, according to the preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), and included in the 52th issue of the Statistical Yearbook 2024.
The forage crops cultivated on a total area of 122,777 thousand acres, accounted for 41.9% of the cultivated lands, recording total production of 1,926.481metric tons, followed by fruit crops on 28.1% of the total cultivated land, on a space reached to 82,278 thousand acres, with total production of 493,011 thousand metric tons, then vegetables on a total area of 77,322 thousand acres, producing 1,222,082 million metric tons. Meanwhile the total area planted with field crops reached 10,692 thousand acres, producing 42,762 thousand metric tons.
The statistics also showed that, the Sultanate of Oman's production of dates at the end of 2023, increased by 17,832 thousand tons, reaching 394,945 metric tons, compared to 377,113 metric tons at the end of 2022.
The Sultanate of Oman's total production of honey by the end of 2023 reached to about 623,313 thousand kilograms, compared to 533,701 thousand kilograms at the end of 2022.
Meanwhile, the number of guidance farms implemented by farmers at the end of 2023, reached to 458 farms on an area of 629 acres, up from 366 farms at the end of 2022, when it was on an area of 306.5 acres.
The quantity of regular and improved seeds distributed to farmers in 2023 reached to about 69,202 thousand kilograms in addition to 55,500 thousand seedlings of fruits.
