To coincide
with the International Women's Day, which is celebrated on 8th March
annually, the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has
launched a webpage dedicated to the indicators of women in the Sultanate of
Oman.
The initiative
aims to highlight the latest indicators concerning women in the Sultanate of Oman,
including Omani women, across six key areas: Demographics, Health, Education,
Employment, Social Protection, and Political Participation.
Susan bint Dawood Al-Lawatiyah,
Director-General of Information at NCSI, stated that , the platform currently
displays three core indicators for each sector, with users able to track the
evolution of these indicators either through time series available on the
interactive dashboards or by selecting a specific year for detailed data.
She emphasized
that, the platform also enables users to download the full data sets in Excel
format, promoting the concept and principle of open data and enabling others to
reutilize the information as needed.
“We are proud
to launch this page, which offers a clear and accurate perspective on the
status of women in the Sultanate of Oman,” said Al-Lawatiyah.
She added: “This
webpage will empower researchers, policymakers, and the wider community by
providing access to critical data that supports sustainable development, social
and economic empowerment of Omani women.”
It is worth
noting that, the NCSI’s Women’s Indicators webpage integrates artificial
intelligence technologies for data analysis and visualization. Future
developments will expand the platform to include more indicators, offering a
broader representation of Omani women’s roles across various sectors. The page
