The household expenditure and income survey is considered a household survey implemented by the National Center for Statistics and Information, its results reflect the reality of household expenditure, consumption and income, and the survey is implemented every five years in most countries of the world.

The survey aims to collect detailed data on households’ expenditure, consumption, and income, to identify the size and pattern of household’s consumption expenditure, and its relationship to demographic, economic, and social variables.

The survey also aims to provide data that serves the purposes of economic and social planning and development in the Sultanate.
