The (NCSI) will give a presentation on its experience in employing geospatial applications in statistical fieldwork at the two-day workshop on GIS techniques & Integration of Statistical and Spatial Data, organized by the Gulf Statistical Center on 19-20 April, 2017 in Muscat.
Delegates from statistical agencies and other stakeholders from all the GCC countries will be attending the workshop. The NCSI's presentation, on the second day of the workshop, will mainly focus on the Centre's approach and implementation strategy with respect to the integration of statistical data and geographical and spatial information. It will also share its experience in employing spatial application techniques in the field of statistical work and highlight some of the most interactive smartphone applications launched by the Center aimed at disseminating key statistical indicators and data.
The workshop will facilitate exchange of ideas and field experiences among GCC states, and offer a learning platform for delegates, allowing them to review best practices and global trends in the field. It will also address the scope and challenges of GIS-enabled statistical projects, along with the integration of statistical and geographical data and methods of collection, analysis and publishing of data.
The workshop will also present innovative ideas and systems for better integration of statistical and geospatial data that link maps, applications and data with users in order to help organizations make more effective, faster and accurate decisions. Strategies that allow stakeholders interactively use geographical data within and outside organizations will also be discussed at the workshop.
