The production of refineries and petroleum industries in the Sultanate by the end of March 2017 increased by 7.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, with the increase in the production of motor fuel by 8.4%, according to statistics released by the NCSI .
The statistics indicated that the refineries and petroleum industries increased the production of ordinary motor fuel (91) by the end of March 2017 by 11% to reach 2 million and 5 thousand barrels to increase sales by 42% to one million and 751 thousand barrels. On the other hand, the production of motor fuel (95%) decreased by 16% to reach 3 million and 838 thousand barrels, while sales also fell by 15% to 3 million and 903 thousand barrels. Gas oil production rose 17 percent to 5 million 838,000 barrels, but sales fell 6 percent to 4 million barrels.
In terms of petrochemicals, gasoline production decreased by 35% to 37 thousand metric tons and exports amounted to 42 thousand metric tons, down by 24%. Paraxylene production fell by 42 percent to 103,000 metric tons. Its exports also fell by 22 percent to 132,000 metric tons. Compared with the end of March 2016, polypropylene production increased by 354 percent to 59,000 metric tons, with sales rising 100 percent to 6 metric tons. Its exports increased by 489% to 53 thousand metric tons.
