The production of refineries and petroleum industries in the Sultanate by the end of June 2017 increased by 12% compared to the same period of 2016, according to statistics released by the Center.
The statistics indicated that refineries and petroleum industries increased the production of ordinary motor fuel M91 by the end of June 2017 by 51% to 4 million and 945 thousand barrels. Sale of M91 also increased by 27% to 3 million and 685 thousand barrels and exports amounted to 1 million and 105 thousand barrels, the data showed. On the other hand, the production of motor fuel M95 decreased by 14% to reach 7 million and 684 thousand barrels, while sales also fell by 15% to reach 7 million and 525 thousand barrels. Gas oil production increased 13 percent to 11 million and 783 thousand barrels, but sales fell 7 percent to 8 million and 139 thousand barrels. The production of aviation fuel rose 22% to 2 million 821 thousand barrels, with sales rising 9% to 2 million 368 thousand barrels and exports up 5% to 490 thousand barrels. The production of LPG increased by 74% to 2 million and 244 thousand barrels, with sales also increasing by 6% recording a million and 153 thousand barrels. The export of LPG climbed by 132% to one million and 118 thousand barrels.
In terms of petrochemicals, gasoline production fell by 19% to 93,000 metric tons and exports amounted to 94 thousand metric tons, down 13%. Paraxylene production fell 22 percent to 273,000 metric tons, with exports also down 9 percent to 305,000 metric tons. Compared with the end of June 2016, polypropylene production increased by 219% to 124 thousand metric tons, with sales increasing by 105% to 11 thousand metric tons and exports by 262% to 110 thousand metric tons, according to the NCSI data.
