Social and economic statistics serve as a guide for decision-makers when drawing up plans and development programs. Hence, the importance of issuing the Statistical Yearbook 2017 by the Center, which was published this year in its 45th edition, reflects the situation of economic and social activity in the Sultanate through data, which it provides and which is a pillar and a key reference when drawing up programs and development plans.
At the same time, the book reflects the extent to which the goals and objectives have been achieved in the social and economic aspects. The data of this issue is an important reference for individuals, researchers and scholars in the preparation of scientific research.
The data and indicators included in this book have been collected from different ministries, government units and public and private sector institutions, as well as from the results of the socio-economic statistical surveys carried out by the NCSI according to the needs of economic development in the Sultanate. The book consists of ten chapters supported by detailed tables and data disaggregated and comparisons between years and up to ten years ago. The book has easy to follow data and indicators as well analysis in an easy and simplified manner.
The annual statistical book covers data on climate, population, housing, the government sector, the private sector, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, oil, gas, electricity and water. The book also includes data on domestic trade, industry and foreign trade, transport and communications, national accounts, public finance, financial institutions and price indices. The data on health, education, social services, security and safety, information and tourism are also included in the book.
