The occupancy rate of hotels which come under three star and five star categories in the Sultanate by the end of November 2017 decrease by 0.4% to reach to 56.5% compared to 56.7% in the same period in 2016. The revenue also increased by 2.4% to reach to OR 174 million, 49,000 compared to OR 169 million,961,000 during the same period of 2016.
The statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information on the main indicators of hotels which come under the categories of three to five stars indicated that the total number of guests which occupied these hotels was 1million, 394 thousand and 942 by the end of November 2017 which was decrease of 4 % from 1million, 452 thousand 842 during the same period in 2016. These statistics also revealed the number of European guests increased by 15.4% to become the largest segment of nationalities of guests with the total number of 518 thousand,629 by the end of November 2017. They were 449 thousand,348 during the same period in 2016. They are followed by Omani guests who were 348 thousand,161 by the end of November 2017 which is a decrease of 18.8% from 473 thousand,159 during the same period in 2016.
The number of guests from the Gulf countries was 199 thousand,342, Asians were 145 thousand,183, other Arabs who are not from Gulf countries were 59 thousand,880, guests from Americans 48 thousand,158, from Ocean countries 13 thousand,421, Africans 9 thousand,636 and other nationalities 16 thousand,531.
