The (NCSI) released 17th edition of the National Accounts Bulletin which covers the period from 2014 to 2016.

This is part of NCSI's efforts to achieve objectives of updating the databases of the Sultanate and develop information systems. This is required to improve the quality and variety of statistics and provide correct and reliable information, particularly to create indexes which are used to measure the economic and social developments in the Sultanate. The bulletin is released after a comprehensive review of updating of the method of preparation of national and other accounts which were not available earlier. The bulletin comprised of general economic indicators, including population, gross domestic product (GDP) growth rates at current rate, imports of goods and services at fixed and current prices, and per capita gross domestic product, national income including growth rates and consumer price index, in addition to the surplus and deficit in the government budget.The bulletin also includes the totals of national accounts at current rates, which include GDP at market rate, GDP at base price and taxes excluding product subsidies, gross national disposable income, gross national savings, gross fixed capital formation, net exports of goods and services, net lending and borrowing.

The publication also has details of the accounts of GDP by the types of economic activities, which includes oil and non-oil activities and government consumption by types of expenditure at current rates and values added to the government services by types of activities at current and fixed rates. It is worth mentioning that the Sultanate has implemented the system of national account (SNA1993), which was adopted by the United Nations Economic and Social Council at the United Nations Statistics Office in mid-1993. The NCSI has expanded the areas of periodic economic and social surveys to develop and improve the quality of basic data required to prepare these calculations. Surveys conducted by the Centre have brought more accuracy in data, and covered additional economic activities and divided economic activities into sectors of institutions.
