The total number of road accidents in the Sultanate of Oman reached to 194 by the end of January 2018, which is a decrease of 39% compared with 318 accidents by the end of January 2017, according to latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) based on preliminary information from the Royal Oman Police.
These road accidents resulted in 52 deaths and 273 injuries by the end of January 2018, whereas there were 43 deaths and 251 injuries during the same period in 2017. There were 27 deaths of Omanis among the total deaths caused by these road accidents by the end of January. They included 21 males and 6 females. The number of deaths of expatriates due to these road accidents during this period was 16. They included 15 males and 1 female. Among those who were injured, there were 196 Omani, 134 of them were males and 62 females, while there were 77 expatriates injured, including 69 males and 8 females.
