On March 10, the Sultanate celebrated the Arab Day of the Library, which was marked by a meeting of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO).
The Library of the Centre is a library for researchers from various sectors. It contains more than 1500 titles, ranging from books, bibliographies, periodicals and university letters in both Arabic and English, and publications issued by the Centre, which contain reliable data and information for all sectors of the Sultanate.
The library also includes publications and reports issued by Arab and international organizations and institutions, as well as statistical books and reports on some Arab and foreign countries.The Library plays an important role in helping researchers in academic institutions as well as in the public and private sectors to obtain information in an easy, fast and efficient manner by providing statistical data and information.
The library is used daily by a number of researchers for documented information supported by the statistical number, whether they are postgraduate students, universities, colleges or civil and military personnel as well as the private sector as well as entrepreneurs and others. According to statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information, the number of libraries available to the public in the Sultanate by the end of 2017 reached 97 libraries, including 29 government libraries and 68 private libraries with 128,930 books.
According to the Centre's statistics, the number of visitors to the libraries in the Sultanate was 63,834, while the number of book publishers reached 7 thousand and 877, borrowing 17,942 books during 2017, while the average number of days of borrowing was 9 days.
