The total catch from traditional fishery in the various governorates of Oman in January 2018 was 38.2 tons, valued at 26 million OMR.
In Muscat governorate, the fish catch by traditional fishery stood at 2,899 tons in Jan 2018. For the corresponding period in 2017, the catch was 2,510 tons, showing a percentage increase of 15.5 %. In North and South Al Batinah governorates, the fish catch by traditional fishery stood at 5,493 tons in Jan 2018. For the corresponding period in 2017, the catch was 4,907 tons, showing a percentage increase of 11.9%. In Mussandam governorate, the fish catch by traditional fishery stood at 2,682 tons in Jan 2018. For the corresponding period in 2017, the catch was 2,535 tons, showing a percentage increase of 5.8%. In Ash Sharqiyah South governorate, the fish catch by traditional fishery stood at 8,747 tons in Jan 2018. For the corresponding period in 2017, the catch was 8,092 tons, showing a percentage increase of 8.1%. In Al Wusta governorate, the fish catch traditional fishery stood at 13,679 tons in Jan 2018.
For the corresponding period in 2017, the catch was 11,707 tons, showing a percentage increase of 16.8%. In Dhofar governorate, the fish catch by traditional fishery stood at 4,711 tons in Jan 2018. For the corresponding period in 2017, the catch was 3,957 tons, showing a percentage increase of 19.1%. The total catch through traditional fisheries has been further classified into various species. The catch for Demersal Fish in Jan 2018 stood at 7,628 tons. For the corresponding in 2017 the catch was 6,707 tons showing a percentage increase of 13.7%. The catch for Large Pelagic Fish in Jan 2018 stood at 10,088 tons. For the corresponding in 2017 the catch was 8,759 tons showing a percentage increase of 15.2%. The catch for Small Pelagic Fish in Jan 2018 stood at 19,695 tons. For the corresponding in 2017 the catch was 17,618 tons showing a percentage increase of 11.8%. The catch for Sharks and Rays in Jan 2018 stood at 427 tons. For the corresponding in 2017 the catch was 335, tons showing a percentage increase of 27.5%. The catch for Sharks in Jan 2018 stood at 418 tons. For the corresponding in 2017 the catch was 311, tons showing a percentage increase of 34.6%.
The catch for Rays in Jan 2018 stood at 9 tons. For the corresponding in 2017, the catch was 24 tons, showing a percentage decrease of -62.4%. The catch for Crustaceans and Molluscs in Jan 2018 stood at 224 tons. For the corresponding in 2017, the catch was 231, tons showing a percentage decrease of -3.1%. The catch for Lobsters in Jan 2018 stood at 4 tons. For the corresponding in 2017, the catch was 2 tons, showing a percentage decrease of 48.4%.
