The Sultanate of Oman will participate in the global celebration of World Theater Day on Wednesday, March 27, 2109, as an international initiative adopted by the International Theater Institute (ITI) since 1961.
The number of theatre performances in the Sultanate reached 157 by the end of 2018, compared to 132 in 2017, according to statistics released recently by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI). The statistical data also indicated that the total number of theatre stages in Oman reached 13 till the end of 2018, compared to 14 in 2017. The theatre performance audience in 2018 reached 95,282 spectators, compared to 147,730 spectators in 2017. The total number of theatre seats in 2018 was 35,660, compared to 36,495 seats in 2017.
NCSI statistics revealed that the total number of the song performance staged in 2018 reached 52, which was attended by 75,730 spectators, compared to 23 performances in 2017, with the audiences reaching 22,379 individuals.
