The domestic production of red meat increased to 46 thousand tons by the end of 2018 compared to 45 thousand tons in 2017. Also, domestic milk production rose to 99 thousand tons compared to 97 thousand tons at the end of 2017, according to preliminary statistics from the National Statistics and Information Centre.
Statistics from the Statistical Yearbook (Issue 47) showed that domestic production of poultry meat amounted to 129 thousand tons compared to 111 thousand tons at the end of 2017, and domestic production of eggs increased to 427 million eggs compared to 397 million eggs at the end of 2017. By the end of 2018, the estimated number of animals was 397,000 cows, 268,000 camels, 605,000 sheep and 2.30 million goats, up from 389,000 cows, 263,000 camels, 593,000 sheep and 2.25 million goats by the end of 2017.The number of animals treated during 2018 reached 2.21 million, of which there were 227,638 cows, 371,501 sheep, 1.31 million goats, 285,731 camels, 198 donkeys and horses, and 12,402 other animals.In 2018, 3.34 million animals were immunized, with 1.23 million animals for intestinal poisoning, followed by 964,227 animals for PPR, and 816,976 animals for foot and mouth disease.
There were 278,550 vaccinations for goat or sheep pox, 29,210 vaccinations for rabies poisoning and 22,624 vaccinations for Botulism.
