The total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman till the end of July 2023 increased by 3.9% to reach 25,133.6 thousand GWh, compared to 24,181.9 GWh during the same period in 2022, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information(NCSI).
The Governorates of Al Dhahirah, North and South Al Batinah, recorded an increase in total electricity production until the end of July 2023, by 1.8%, to reach 16,7.2 thousand GWh.
Production of electricity also increased in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah by 137%, to reach 127.8 GWh, as well as in the North and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates, by 7%, to reach 5,628.7 thousand GWh, and in the Governorate of Dhofar, by 13.8%, to reach 2,727.6 thousand GWh, while its production increased by 2.1% in the Governorate of Musandam, to reach 260.7 GWh.
As for the Governorate of Muscat, the total electricity production till the end of July 2023 decreased by 12.7%, recording 267.4 GWh, and the total production also decreased in the Governorate of Al Wusta by 36.3%, to reach 114.2 GWh.
Oman's net production of electricity till the end of July 2023, which includes purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and purchases by the Rural Areas Electricity Company by region, reached to 24,357.2 thousand GWh.
The largest amount of net electricity production came in each of: the Governorate of Al Dhahirah and the Governorates of South and North Al Batinah, which reached to 15,488.9, thousand GWh.
The total quantity of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman, till the end of July 2023, increased by 1.8%, reaching 301,986.8 million cubic meters, compared to 296.770 million cubic meters at the end of the same period in 2022.
The water production of the Governorate of Dhofar, increased during this period by 3.1%, followed by the Governorate of Muscat with an increase of 1.8%.
