The Sultanate of Oman's production of refineries and petrochemicals recorded a decrease of 5.2% the end of March 2024 compared to the corresponding period in 2023, according to preliminary statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The production of regular gasoline (M-91) fell by 15.3% by the end of March 2024, while its sales fell by 3.4%. Meanwhile, paraxylene and benzene products recorded an increase in exports, with a growth rate of 21% and 24.1%, respectively.
The statistics indicate that the production of regular gasoline (M-91) reached 3,920,500 barrels by the end of March 2024, with sales amounting to 3,340,100 barrels.
The production of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 17.9%, reaching 3,105,600 barrels, and its sales increased to 3,106,100 barrels.
The production of diesel fuel (gas oil) fell by 10.6%, reaching 7,426,700 barrels, with sales amounting to 3,386,700 barrels. Furthermore, the production of jet fuel increased by 9.4%, totaling 2,947,700 barrels, with sales of 1,087,600 barrels. The production of liquefied petroleum gas also rose by 19.2%, reaching 2,203,400 barrels.
Regarding petrochemicals, the production of benzene increased by 24.1%, reaching 43,100 metric tonnes, while the production of paraxylene reached 139,700 metric tonnes, representing 21%. The production of polypropylene dropped by 9.3%, amounting to 61,300 metric tonnes.
