The Sultanate of Oman's production of refineries and petrochemicals recorded a decrease of 2.8% till the end of April 2024 compared to the corresponding period in 2023, according to preliminary statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The production of regular gasoline (M-91) fell by 10.6% by the end of April 2024, while its sales fell by 3.3%. Meanwhile, paraxylene and benzene products recorded an increase in production, with a growth rate of 14.7% and 18.1%, respectively.

The statistics indicate that the production of regular gasoline (M-91) reached 5,265,500 barrels by the end of April 2024, with sales amounting to 4,445,300 barrels.

The production of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 10.5%, reaching 4,122,800 barrels, and its sales also increased to 4,158,900 barrels.

The production of diesel fuel (gas oil) fell by 7.8%, reaching 10,461,400 barrels, with sales amounting to 4,440,700 barrels. Furthermore, the production of jet fuel increased by 3.7%, totaling 3,615,500 barrels, with sales of 1,366,700 barrels. The production of liquefied petroleum gas also rose by 9%, reaching 2,917,600 barrels.

Regarding petrochemicals, the production of benzene increased by 18.1%, reaching 54,800 metric tonnes, while the production of paraxylene reached 178,000 metric tonnes, representing 14.7%. The production of polypropylene dropped by 4.7%, amounting to 83,800 metric tonnes.

Meanwhile, Oman's exports of gasoline (M-91) fell by 17.1% to reach 996,800 barrels, while the exports of premium gasoline (M-95) rose by 106.1%.

The exports of diesel fuel (gas oil) reached 5,962,600 barrels, and the exports of jet fuel reached 2,199,500 barrels. Additionally, the exports of liquefied petroleum gas reached 177,000 barrels.

The exports of paraxylene amounted to 176,600 metric tonnes, while the exports of benzene and polypropylene reached 56,100 metric tonnes and 56,400 metric tonnes, respectively.
