The inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 0.8% in October 2024 compared to the same month in 2023 for the base year 2018, according to data on consumer price index numbers in the Sultanate of Oman issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
The data indicated an increase in the prices of miscellaneous goods and services by 4.8%, food and non-alcoholic beverages groups by 3.5%, health by 3.2%, recreation and culture by 0.8%, restaurants and hotels by 0.6%, clothing and footwear by 0.5%, furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.4%, and education by 0.1%.
Whereas the price of tobacco, communication, and those of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other types of fuel remained stable. On the other hand, the prices of the transportation groups decreased by 2.6%.
In the food and non-alcoholic beverages group, the prices of vegetables increased by 8.9%, fruits by 8%, milk, cheese, and eggs by 5.4%, oils and fats by 3.8%, meat by 2.8%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and candy by 2.4%, and cereals and bread by 0.8%, and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.7%, whereas fish and seafood prices decreased by 1.2%.
Ash Sharqiah South Governorate recorded the highest rate of increase in inflation at the end of October 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year, as the index rose by 1.9%.
Inflation rate also rose by 1.6% in Musandam and Al Wusta Governorates, and by 1.3% Ash Sharqiah North Governorate. The inflation rate increased by 1.1% in AdDakhliyah Governorate, 0.8% in Al Batinah North Governorate, 0.7% in Al Buraimi & Adh Dhahirah Governorates, 0.6% in Dhofar, Muscat Governorates and 0.4% in South Al Batinah Governorate.
