The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) is holding a workshop during the period of 19 to 21 August 2025 on the mechanisms for calculating thematic indicators related to the role of culture in implementing the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan.
The participants of the workshop, include staff from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Arts, and the Environment Authority.
The workshop aims to introduce methodologies for calculating thematic indicators of culture's role, identify their components and sources, and to contribute to build the capacity of staff to calculate these indicators in line with international standards.
Iman bint Mansoor bin Nasser Al-Kindiyah, Director of the Social Statistics Department at NCSI, stated that this workshop plays a vital role in strengthening the skills and competencies of professionals in the field of statistics, while it equips them with a clear understanding of indicator calculation methods based on scientific methodologies and internationally recognized standards.
She added: This in turn will enhance the quality of cultural statistical data, improve its credibility, and promote its effective use in supporting decision-makers in policy formulation and strategic planning.
The Director of the Social Statistics Department, further stressed that strengthening joint statistical efforts among government entities will provide a comprehensive image of Oman's cultural landscape and support the integration of the cultural dimension into sustainable development reports, in line with Oman Vision 2040.
